ATHLETICS.

The opening meeting of the North Shore Juvenile Athletic Club took place on Saturday, the 6th December. The entries were good, and thi events well contested. Mr. T. MASONIC. The annual installation of officers of the Lodge-Waitemafa, EC., took place at the lodge-room, Masonic Hall, on 15th December. The room was filled, there being a very large number of visi'ors from sister lodges. The lodge was op;ned by Brother Hatawell, the retiring W. .M., and his officers, and on the dais were Brother Levy, P.M., Lodge Ara ; Brother Chapman, W.M., Lodge Eden ; Brother J. Warren, P.M.. Lodge Wauematit. and l odge Eden ; Brother E. V. Macdi.nald, W.M., L-dge Remuera ; Brother J. Ff. Burns, P.M, Lodge United Service ; Brother H. G. Wade, D.G Secretary, attended as Secretary of the Lodge, and snbseqiu-ntlv Brother W. Lo lder, D.D.G.M.; Brother W. P. Moat, D.G., Registrar; and Brother Oole, D.G., director of c-.remojiies, attend-:! and took part in the csremonies. The Master havi g opened the lodge, put to the billot the Rev. | C. M. Nelstm, P.M. of Prince of Wa'es L«o:lge, as a joining member, and the ba'iMbeing favourable, he wis declared elected. He then introduced Brother W. P. Moat, D. G. Registrar, as isis'a'ling master, and this .viason conducted :he succeeding ceremouiis in an inipres i e and excellent manner. Brother "W. A. Tenton, the W. M. eloct, was presented by Bruth.-rs P.M. Wade and Hatswell, and having been duly installed, he nominated and imta'led his officers as follows J. L. Hats well, I P.M. and Treasurer; A. Wright, S. W.; W. R. Waddel, .J.W.; H- G. Wade, Secretary; J. Butler, S.D. ; H. Evans, J.D. ; Charle3 Crozier, I.G. ; Charles Porter, Tyler ; Brothers Burcher and Browubill, Stewards. The Rev. C. M. Nelson was nominated chaplain, but not being preeent, he was not installed. The addres-es to the new offic rs wc-re delivered in a mo>t impressive manner by the V. W., the installing master, Brother Moat. Subsequently the lodge was lowered. a;.d three gentlemen were nominated, and tded, a-i fit aud proper persons to be admitted as Masons. The lodge was closed, and the brethren adjourned to the diningroom of the hotel, where an excellent and plentiful cold spread, surrounded by all the delicacies o' the season, aw aited the guests who were present. The regular monthly meeting of the Lodge St. Andrew was held on December 22, at the lodgc-room, Masonic Hotel, Princes-street. P. M.S. Hewson and Walker led np the newly-elected master, Brother T. Ellison, who was duly installed. The elected officers of the lodge are as follows :—(All were not present, but those in attendance were installed.) Brother T. Wbitson, D. M.- f (not present); -John Kaghes, S.M ; James Lewis, S.W.; M. Gallagher, J.W., (absent); Rev. F. Gould, (re-elected); R. E. Graham (deferred) ; Gen. Payne, secretary; A. R. Greenway, S. D.; J. Barford, J. D.; — Sherwin, 1.G., (not present); F. B. Hughe3 and Sandford, stewards, and G. Porter, tyler. The installation ceremony was carried out in a most impressive and imposing manner by Brother Niccol. The annual installation meeting of the Alexandra Lodge of Freemasons was held at the lodge-room, Alexandra Hote!, Waikato, on Wednesday, 24th Dec. An unusually large number of brethren were present, some having travelled from Hamilton and Cambridge to take part in the ceremony. After the prelimina'y business had been transacted the W.SI. requested Brother W. P. Moat, District Grand Registrar, to act a3 installing master on the occasion, and he having conseated, paoceeded in his well-known efficient manner to icstal Brother T. Finch as Worshipful Master of tha lodge for the ensuing vear. The "W M. then invested his officers as follows: —Brothers J. B. Webb, S.W.; George M. A. Ahier, J.W.; Neil McLeod, P.M., treasurer ; John N'. Miller, secretary ; T. Coulter, S. IX; T. Kirk, J.D.; George Finch, I G.; R. McGrutber, Tyler. Ihe l.idge having been closed, the brethren, on the invitation of the W. M., adjourned to the banqaeting-room, where the delicacies of the season were served up with the taste which characterises the Alexandra Hotel.
