COURT CITY OF AUCKLAND, A. O. F.
The seventeenth anniversary of the Court City of Auckland, A.0.F., was celebrated by a concert and ball, yesterday evening, at the Choral Hall. There were from two to three hundred present, and the proceedings were throughout of an extremely pleasant and harmonious character. Mr. James .Siichbury, C.R., pr sided. There were on the platform, representatives from Courts Zeslandia, Knreka, Pride of Newmarket, Pride of Onehu'iga, Coromandel, and Pride of Parr.ell (I hamcs). Also, from Good Intent, Fountain of Friendship, and Parried Lodges, 1.0.0. F., M.U. ; National Order of Oddfellows, Loyal United Friends, Uechabites, and Hibernian Societi -s. The Chairman made a brief introductory speech, congratulating his brother members on the progress made by the court during the past jear, after wliish the financial report' was read by the secretary. Brother Holland. From it we gather that the balance to the sick and general fund at the end of last year was £2420 4s, to whicb h.-.s to be aided for contributions £4SG 9s 4d; initiation fees, £19 lis; contributions for members of other courts, £22s Gs ; interest added, £115 14s 2d; general money from district, £20—making a total of £oOS4 4i G.l. Thore has been expended this year for sick pay, £202 4s ; district account, £GG 103 (ii; to other Courts, £22 Gs ; general management on account of district, £20 : total expenditure, £311 0s Gd. Credit belance at present, £2773 ; increase on year, £353. Only one rleath had taken place during tho year —that of a very old member of the Order. As to management fund the receipts for the year have beer. : For contributions, fees, Sc., £292 12s lid; balance at close of last year, £Gl IGa 4d ; total to this fund, £354s 9s 3M. The expenditure had been £308 2s Sd, which included an item o£ £30 for a banner, which bad been ordered from home, and was shortly expected to arrive. The number of members on the books at the end of last year were 289; left, 2u ; admitted, 39 : thus leaving an increase to the Court membership of 14. Songs were then given by Messrs. Hill, Allen, and McL!v.-.-o, ana a recitation by Mr. A. Smith. 1 The representatives of the various Friendly Societies present made brief speeches, in response to the call of the chairman, among3t thcni Brother "Whisker,of Court Coromandel. A few closing remarks by the chairman brought this portion of the evening's proceedings to a termination, when the hall was Cleared for dancing, which was kept up with apmt to an early hour this morning.
