FIRE BRIGADE.
Tiic annual benefit of the accident, and library fund of the Auckland Fire Brigade was celebrated on November 10, in the Lcrne street Hall, b3' a concert ami ball uui'.er the patronage of the members of the City Council, Superintendent Mahon, and the Newton Fire Brigade, Captain Butler and the Salvage Cops, aud Captain Leßjy and the Naval Brigade. The hall was crowded to excess, and the uniform? of the dilfereut companies gave the seen 3 quite a brilliant appearance. The entert.iiuiueat commenced with Dean's Minstrel scenes Danny Bertie as "B.ne.->," and Fred Rice as " Tambo" were very successful. Mr. Horace Dean acted as conversationalist. Tho first part of the entertainment closed nith " The Circus Out-done," which caused much merrirntut. Bertie and Uice, in their "Plantation Pictures," were very comical, aud evoked loud applause. Mr. Horace Dean, in his comic song "You'll All Be Wanted," was oudly encored. The entertainment closed with the amusing act entitled " Obeying my Orders." Jlr. Arthur Eady acted as leader of the orchestra. After the concert dancing was commenced with good spirit, and kept up until morning. Superiuteudent Hughes and Foreman Harley acted as masters of the ceremonies. Refreshments were provided by Fireman Blance.
