DROWING ACCIDENT AT WAIUKU.

Tiie Superintendent of Police received intimation by t.legram from the local constable that the dead budy of a fisherman named Frederick Coverley had been fouud Btranded on the bf-acli of the river near Waiuku village. The deceased has been missing for about three week-. His clothes at the time were found on the bank close to the place where he usually spread his nctu across the river. As he had remarked on previous occasions that he was afraid, should he at any time be attaekel with cramps while in the river his case would be hopeless, it is supposed that hn prediction was verified, aud that while stripped in the river spreading his net?, he was atticked by cramps, and cairicd away by the tide. An inquest on the remains will be held to-day.
