THE AUCKLAND CO-OPERATIVE BUILDING AND INVESTMENT SOCIETY.

The half-yc-arly general meeting of members of the Auckland, Permanent, Co-operative, Building, and Investment Society, was to have b-en held on Dec. 2, at Mr. Batg.r's ofiice, 03, Queen-Etreet. At the time appeiute'l, the president (Colonel Haultain) aud 10 other members, were present, but tiia rules required that 20 should be pre-eut to form a quorum, no business was transacted. The secretary, Mr. Batger, however, read the uudited balance-sheet, of which the following is a precis for tho information of the shareholders present:—Receipts : Veos, £318 Is 3d ; fines, £83 7s 5d ; subscriptions on investors' shares, £9167 5s 4d ; repayments on borrowed shares, £10,040 3i 7d • cash refund on account of shares (properties in liquidition), £IG2 Ss Sd; deposits, £11,G35 lGs 91 ; interest, £13S 9s ; pas books, &c, £13 2a Cd ; cash balance in hand aud hank, £0441 19s Id ; overdraft at bjnk, £G422 Si 7d : total, £4-1,423 2s 3J. Expenditure : Fees, &c, £152 11s Gel; loanadvances to borrowers, £14,745; deposits repaid with interest, £3283 5s Id; shares paid off and withdrawn, £24,925 2s 8.1 ; ontstanding liabilities paid, £'33S 15s; office urniture, £1 9jGd. Miscellaneous : Manageent fees, rent, printing, stationery, <to., 495 14s 2d : total, £43,941 17s lid; balance a*h in hand, £481 4s 4d, making a total of £44,423 2s 3d.—A desultory conversation then took place, after which those present separated.
