CARANDINI CONCERT.
The second of the Carandini concerts came off 3'esterday evening, and was better attended on the whole than that of Saturday, though still far from what it should have been. The same programme as on the opening evening was given, and judging by the enthusiasm and hearty applause with which each of the several pieces were received, the concert was an undoubted success. The gems of the evening ware: "It was a Dream," by Miss Marie Caraudin'. The exquisite taste and feeling manner in which it was sung, was moet warmly applauded, and called forth a hearty encore. "The Declaration," a duet, from the well-kuown and popular opera, "La Grande Duchesae," was rendered in a very spirited and ciiatming style, by Miss Marie Oarandiui and Mr. W. Sherwin. "I Cannot Mind my Wheel, Mother," by Miss Marie Caraudini, so took the audience by storm that they rapturously encored her, and would not be satisfied until she came out a second time, and gave that beautiful song, "Take me to thy heart." Mr. Gordon sang, "Se II Rigour," and "Man the Lifeboat," in the first part with great effect, the latter beinj? loudly encored, as was alßo "Jack's Varni," in response to which he gave " Polly." The duet, "Trust her not, she's fooliug thee," was sung in an inimitable manner by Madame Carandini aad Miss Marie Caraudini. These are specially mentioned, because they called forth the moat vigorons applause and encores ; but iudeed, every piece of the programme is equally de serving of the highest commendation. Too much praise cannot be given to the performers for the unfailing good humour anl cheerfulness with which they responded in every iu3tance to the repeated calls on them for encores. We must not omit to do justice to the very superior musical ahility of Miss Josephine Deakin, who, both in the accompaniments and in the pianoforte duets with Miss Marie Sarandiui — "Martha" and "Marchede Tambours"—evinced talent of undoubted high order.
