November 29.—Arrived: Frederick Bassett, from Newcastle; Taiaroa, from Lyttelton. Sailed: Ada C. Owen, for Auckland, After a long spell of easterly winds and seven days' downpour of constant rain, with thick weather, a change has set in ; the wind backing to the south-west eaily this morning, anil blowing freshly. This ought to bring up some eight or nine ships now overdue from home and celoni d ports. The first to turn up should be Messrs. Shaw, Savill and Co.'s Ifermion, now 107 days out; the Albion Company's Dunedin, now 90 days out; and the New Zealand Shipping Company's Loch Fleet, 90 days out; together with several American barques, and a vessel or two from Mauritius. During the last week there has not been a vessel of any class in the bay nor at the piers doing anything, except the Invercirgill and Mataura, both of which are loidiug for London ; indeed, it is years since the port has looked so dull. A change for the better is devoutly wished for. DUNEDIN.
