COROMANDEL.

Dkiving Creek School. —Another of those entertainments, got up for Ihe benefit of the funds of the school, came off on Monday evening last;. A large and varied programme ■was gone through. Some of the singing was excellent, but the treat of the evening was a short oomedy ("A Slight Mistake") by the youDg lady pupils of the school. The make-up and acting were remarkably good, and might have done credit to much older persons. The Philosophic Landlady (Miss Barry) was "done" to the life, while Lady Prince Proudly (Miss Bowden) gave one a very good portrait of our upstart aristocracy. Rosina (Miss Thode) gave her cousin, the landlady, some very severe rubs in her sarcastic speeches, and Miss K. Andrew, as Saranet, was a very pert, fashionable maid, but the make up and acting of Mies Keary, as dame Dorothy, were inimitable. Each one knew her partThe performance went off without a hitch, and the audience were thoroughly pleased. The songs "Little Sister" and "Sweet Spirit," by Miss Callaway, were particularly good; "Silver Moonlight," by Miss C. (JaUaway was also vory good. The lant piece of the evening was a duet by the Miaaea .Callaway, "Flow on," Miss Conpland was in good voice, and sang very sweetly "Still I Love Thee." Captain Andrew and Messrs. Kockliff, Milbaok, and McNeil alao Bang several songs. At the conclusion Captain Andrew, on behalf of the committee, thanked all those ladies and gentlemen who had assisted, and announced that another entertainment would take place on Boxing Night. The National Antbem Vrought the proceedings to a close. Great preparations are being made for a concert on a grand scale to be hold at the lower schools, on Friday next, in aid of the funds of Chriet Church. It is not often a coHcert is got up at the lower township, but when one is got up it is generally very good, and on the present occasion the committee mean to eurpass tbeir former efforts iu this direotion. — [Own Correspondent.]
