SHORTHORNS FOR NEW ZEALAND.
A smrsiKXT of live well-bred pedigree Shorthorn bulls and one heifer was mada by the ship luglewood, which sailed from the London Docks on Tuesday for New Zealand. They belong to Messrs. Maclean and Co., who have extensive herds in Auckland, to which, now that the ports are open, they are about to introduce some of the best blood to be procured in the mother country. Four of the bulls were purchased privately of Mr. R. Loder, of Wliittlebury, whose herd is one of high reputation. Two of these are very handsome and shapely Wild Eyes bulls, both by Grand Duke 22nd (34,062), and one of them is out of Velvet Eyes, bred by Colonel Kiugscote, and sold by him for the higheafc figure ever realised for one of that tribe. But the most valuable of these aristocratic emigrants is Oxford Royal, by 3rJ Duke of Gloceater (33.GD3), and from 10th Maid of Oxford, who was bred in the celebrated New York Mills herd, and after being imported to this country by Mr. Cheney, was sold to Earl Bective at the Gaddesby sale of 1577 for ICOS guineas. The other bull from Whiitlebury is Baron Tregunter, by 7th Duke of Tregunter (35.194), and out of Grand Duchess Fawsley 3rd, who owns some half-dozen other Duke crosses. The fifth bull and the heifer are closely allied in blood, being of the celebrati 1 tlolker Oxford Rose tribe, and they are both by 7th Duke if Ul ° .pr'wif'. reienine monarch of the Holker herd.— Times, September 25.
