MR. R. ARTHUR'S WEEKXY REPORT. The demand for produce generally during the week haa not been so good as usual. Canterbury cheese has come to hand more freely, but little of local made. Several small lets of local-cured bacon and hams have been aent in ; that of go.d quality sells well, but Bome lots are so badly got up, and others so thick and soft, that it is difficult to get a bid for them. Buttar has not come to hand in large quantity; good quality meets with fair demand. "Wednesday's sale of furniture and pianos passed off very satisfactorily. The pianos were old; they sold at £16, £20, and £26 10s each. Thursday's sale of fruit ex s.s. Rotorua, from Sydney, was fairly attended. The prices realised were lower than have ruled of late : -French crabs sold at 2d to ; stone pippins, 2d to 3d ; stunners, 2£<l to 3d ; nonpareils, to 2Jd ; Golden Harvey's, 2Jd ; crows eggs, 2Jd to 2J ; New York pippins, ljd to 2£d ; pearmains, 2Jd to 3d ; Blenheim orange, 2d ; baking pears, 2£d to 2sd. Friday's sales were well attended, and a fair amount of business done. The entries for poultry were not so numerous as usual, no doubt owinc to the unsettled state of the weather; all in good condition sold well. Fowls sold at Is 3d to 2s 6d ; ducks, 2s to 2s lOd; turkeys, 3s 7d to 4s 7d; geese, 4s ; pigs, 8s 6d to 13s ; potatoes, 4s 6d to 6s 6d; onions, Jd to 2d; pumpkins, 7s 9d; carrots, 2s 6d to 3s 6d; turnips, It 6d to 2s; pie melons, Is 3d to 2s; Canterbury bacon, (bare), 6Jd to 9d; bacon and hams, BJd ;' t lard, in bladders, 7&1; cask, 7d : Auckland-: bacon and hams, 7<l to 9d j lard, 6^(1; Auckland cneese, 8d to 9d; Canterbury, Bid to 9ds' butter, 9d to 12d ; oats, 3a to 3a 6d ; maice, 4m to 4s 3d; wheat, 3s 6d : wheatmeal, 8s ; catmeal, 18s to 19s ; flour. £10 to £10 10s; apples, Id to 3Jd ; candles, 9Jd; Boap, 16s ; sugar, 3<3 to 4£d; rice, 2£d to 3d; hair 0i1,7s 6d ; sultanas,6ld; salt, ss; tea (box), 20s to 25s 6d; biscuits, 6d ; raisins, sd. The furniture department sale passed off satisfactorily. Second-hand sold well; new furniture brought fair pricae; a dining-room suite. £30; cheffonier, £6 15s; chests of drawers, £2 15s to Si; mangle, £3 2s 6d.
