Medical- •' Lives of great men all remind us, We can make our Urea sublime; And, departing', leave behind us Footprints on sands of time." THE afabvs is read with great interest by • thousand) of young men. J4i But to that youth—to that man, who has wastea. hisjrigor, who has ycilded himself up.to the temporary sweet allurements of vice! who has given unbridled li.ense to his passions, to him the above lines are but as a reproach What Hope' can ho have? what aspirations? What chance of leaving his footprints on tho sands of time? For h'm, alas! thereis nought but dart despair and self-reproach, fcr '• lost fy* For a man to leave his footprints on the sands of ; time, he must be endowed with a strong brain and I nervous power. He must possess a sound, vigorous,. I healthy mind, ia a healthy body—the power to con-: | eeive—the energy to execute ! - But look at our Aua , tralian youth I See the emaciated form, the vacant loo's the listless. he>itating manner, the nervous distrust, the senseless, almost idiotic expression. Note his demeanour and conversation, and then say, .Xb that a man to leave his footprints on the sands of time. Do parents, medical men and educators of youth pay sufficient attention to this subject? Do they ever ascertan the cause of this decay ; and having dene so, do they (as a strict sense of duty demands) seek the skilled advicft of the medical man, who has. made this branch of his profession his particular speciality, wh se life has been devoted to the treatment of these cases? Reader, what is your answer? Let each one answer for himself. Parents see their progeny fading gradually before their sight, see them becom * emaciated old young men, broken down in health, enfeebled, unfitted for tho battle of life; yet one word might save them «ne sound and vigorous health-giving letter from a medical man, habituated to the treatment and eontinuoas supervision of such case?, would, inmost instances, succeed in warding the impending doom of a miserable an • glooniy future, and by appropriate treatment restore tbe enervated system to its natural rigor, and ensure a joyous and happy life. Dr. L. L. SMITH, of Melbourne, has made the diseases of youth and those arising therefrom his peculiar study. His whole professional life has been especially devoted to the treatment of Nervous Affections and the Diseases incidental to Married Life. His skill is available to all-no matter how many hundreds or thousands of miles distant. His 6ystem of correspondence by letter is now so well organised and known that comment w«uld be superfluous—(by this means many thousands of patients have been cured, whom he has never seen and never known); and it is carried on with such judicious supervision that, though he has beon practising this branch of his profession for twenty-six years in these colonies, no single instance of accidental d'scovery has ever yet happened. When Medicines are required, these are forwanled in the same carefal manner without a possibility of tho contents of the parcel being discovered. Plain and clear directions accompany these latter, and a cure is affected without even the physician knowing who is his patient. To Men and Wemen with Broken-down Constitutions. the Nervous, the Debilitated, and all suffering from any Disease whatever, Dr. L. L. SMITH'S plan of treatment commends itself, avoiding, as it doe?, the inconvenience and expense •£ a personal visit. Address — DR. L. L. SMITH, 112, COLLINS-STREET EAST, MELBOURNE.
