Mr. Bonny wae elected chairman, and Mr. Jordan was appointed secretary. Instructions were given to advertise the sittings of tue Commissioners, requesting persons interested to attend. Intimation was sent to Mr. BarfF, M. 11. R., by letter. The Stella was ordered to go to Jackson's Bay and bring Mr. McFarlane, resident agent, and the papers necessary. The Commissioners adjourned. The bar is unworkable to-day, and the Stella has been communicated with by signals. The glass is rising, but there is a heavy sea. The Commissioners landed at Greymouth, fortunately, or they could not have got ashore here. A little girl named Leng, died in the hospital from the effects of burns received from her clothes catching fire while lighting the house fire. BLENHEIM, Monday. An unfortunate accident has happened at Poit Underwood, by which a young man named Jackson was shot through the arm with a rifle bullet. CHIUSTCHURCH, Saturday. At the Assessment Court yesterday the assessor's values were enormously reduced on appeals of objectors. At a special meeting of the shareholders of Kakaia and ABhburton Forks Railway yesterday it was resolved to confirm the of the capital of tho company by issue of 5000 new shares of £20 each. Brodick was re-elected director. INVERCARGILL, Saturday. The township of Dudley, on tho lioe of the Gore and Waimea railway, 30 acro3 in extent, was offered to auction this afternoon by Me33ra. Mcßoiio and Cuthbertson. The attendance was numerous and the bidding spirited. The whole proposed township was disposed of at an average of £10 10s per acre.
