POLICE COURT.—Wednesday.
[Beforo Messrs. G. P. Pierce »nd J. Owen, J.P.'u.] Drunkenness.—Samuel Butcher, James Law, and Joseph Graham were punished for this offence. Disorderly.—Charles Lane, a Fijian, appeared to answer the charge of having been disorderly in a public place and using language tending to provoke a breach of the peace. Mr. Richard Graham was sworn iu as interpreter. The prisoner pleaded not guilty. SergeantMajor Mason conducted tho prosecution. Constable Alexander, who had made the arrest, stated that the prisoner threw floff his coat, used abusive language, and called upon another man to light him. The prisoner denied the charge, and said ifc was the otheP man who threw off tho coat and wanted to fight. After hearing the evidence, tho_Court discharged the prisoner with a caution.
Abusive Language.—Eliza Hitchen, who had been summoned to appear for using abusive language toward Susan Martin, did not appear, and a warrant was issued for her apprehension. It appears that the defendant has separated from her husband, and that her children are now in the care of complainant. Hence the trouble.
