WESLEYAN DISTRICT MEETINGS.
The annual district meeting of the Wesleyau Church commenced its sittings yesterday, ia the Pit street School room,—the Rev. T. Buddie presiding. Present: Revs. Messrs. Wallis, Warren, Lawry, Kirk, Schnackenberg, Whewell, Watkin, Law, Bond, Hammond, aud Garlick ; with Messrs. Di-llow. Martin, and Wills, theological students'.—Mr. Warren and Mr. Kirk led the meeting in prayer.— The Revs. Bunn and Gittos were reported as not having arrived. —As the Rev. J. Hobbs was absent through ill health, a letter of sympathy wu ordered to be scut to him.—The Rev. H. H. Lawry was appointed as secretary, fier, J. Law as journal sccrct iry, and Rev. G. Bond as reporter for the Press.—The houn of session were fixed for mornings from 10 to 1 o'clock; afternoon, 2 30 to 4.30.— Tie financial meeting was fixed for Monday nest at 10 a.m.—Mr. Garlick, probationer, woj appointed to preach a trial sermon, Messrs. Buddie, Kirk, and Wallis to hear liim aud report on the sermon.—lt was decidcd to hold the aunual Home Missionary ileciingj on Tuesday evening next, the speakers on that occasion to be the Revs, J. Buddie, J. Warren, Gittos, Watkin, Schnackenberg,and Hammond, with Messrs. T. Buddie, E. Hobbs, and others.—ln the course of the morning session, the Chairman briefly and suitably addressed the meeting on "The past aud present condition and future prospects of Wesltyau- Methodism in -New Zealand." — The afternoon session _ M begun by tho singing of a hymn and the offering of prayer.—lt was decided that Mr. Osborn, candidate for the ministry, should preach a trial sermon on Friday next, u the Pitt-street School-room, Messrs. Wallis, Kirk, and Watkin to report on the sermon. —Under the question, " 11avo any ministers or preachers oil trial died during the year! it was reported that the Rev. Karawim Waiti had died early in tho year.—As is customary, very pointed questions were asked, bearing on the moral and religion! character of tho ministers, and with very satisfactory results, "no objections" being recorded against each name. The probationers and students were examined in Wesley's sermons, Kuclid, moral science, and Latin, and their papers referred to _th« Conference Kxamiuiiig Committee. — »- IC Chairman closed the meeting by pronouncing the benediction.
