Yestkkday Messrs. Conyers and Lavvaon were engaged all day witli members of the Harbour Hoard settling ttie remaining details iu connection with the extensive reclamation works to bo undertaken in front of Custom-house-street, whereon the railway station is to be erected. It has been stated in public rumours that the Harbour Board authorities were throwing obstacles in the way ; but the statement is entirely without foundation. Everything has now been arranged, and tenders will be called for as soon as possible. To day Messrs. Conyers and Lawaon ivjU examine the line of the Kaipara railway, so as to decide which of the roates should bo adopted,—the inland route or the coast route. We shall express no opinion about the matter, except to say chat we hope this decision will be final. We are quite tired of the battle of the routes; and, after the gentlemen abovenamod have giveu their decision, it will require strong pressure to induce us to do aaything towards re-opening the discussion. Bnt for the see-saw on this subject, we might have had the line connected by thi3 time. Messrs. Conyo/s and Lawson will be accompanied over the line by Messrs. Stewart (Kugiueer), J. S. Macfarlane. and W. Swanson, and, probably, they will be met by several of the settlers of the locality. It is said that Mr. Lawson, and, probably, Mr. Coi.yers, will- visit the Waikato next week.
