MURDER AT SAMOA.
THE MURDERER LYNCHED BY RESOLUTION OF A PUBLIC MEETING. [By Electric TEi/EORAru] [PKEiS AGENCY.] SYDNEY, December 32. Fiji news of December Ist gives an account of how one Corcoran, an American boatmau, had been lynched at Samoa for stabbing a man named Fox. Both were drinking at a hotel bar, when leaning over the counter, without any altercation, Corcoran stabbed Fox in the groin. The wound was fatal. Corcoran being an American citizen, was put aboard the schoonerUda May, for conveyance to America for tr.al. However, at a public meeting it was decided the murderer should be executed forthwith. The same evening two boat loads of men went on board the schooner, secured Corcoran, brought liim ashore, and informed him he was to be hung to a tree for twelve hours. The resident missionary was sent for. After a few prayers, the unfortunate man was run up with a double block and tackle to a cocoanut tree. This was repeated twice, and the culprit hung twelve hours, death being almost instantaneous.
