MANGAPAI THE MEETING OF THE WHANGAKEI COUNTY COUNCIL.
A spe IAL meeting of the Whangarei County Council was held in the Whangarei Coutthnuse on Tuesday, tlie 7th iust., on the requisition of Councillors Sissons and Wakulin, to rescind certain resolutions passed at the last meeting at Waipu : also, to rescind a resolution appointing M luganai and Waipu places of meeting for the Council - at the former place, once in four months ; at the latter, once in six months. This unfair action on the part of the Hikurangi councillors was thwarted, a quorum not being present. The general meeting of the Council was held in the Court-house, Maugapai, on Wednesday, the Bth inst. Present: Councillors Seceombe (Chairman), McKenzie, Kouland*, Mill and Brown. The Clerk read the minutes of last meeting at Waipu. The Chairman decided that resolutions No. 9 and 10 should be considered extraordinary business. It was proposed by Councillor Kowlanda, seconded by Councillor Brown, "That the minntes of last meeting, exclusive of resolutions No. 9 and 10 (decided by the chairman to be extraordinary business), be confirmed." Carried. Correspondence read. 'Jhe Chairman stated that a map of the County had been received. Proposed by Councillor Rowlands, seconded by Councillor McKenzic, ; That ail accounts received by the chairman tc this date be paid." Carried. Proposed by Councillor Kowlands, seconded by Councillor McKenzie, "That the work on the road at Waipu, from McLeod's bridge, and also the bridge at Bream Tail, be paid for when, completed to the satisfaction of the Council, or persons appointed by the Council ; the whole cost of the bridge not to exceed £12. Carried. Proposed by Councillor Kowlands, .seconded by Councillor McKer.zie "That £10 be expended in repairing the mail road through Urmiston's bush ; Councillors Kowlands and McKenzie to have supervision of said work. Carried. So much has br.en done for other parts of the country, that it is to be hoped Mangapai will get its due soon.—[Own Correspondent. 1
