OPERA BOUFFE.
It is with pleasure that we draw attention to an advertisement in another column stating that the English Comic Opera Company, who arrived here on Sunday, and were engaged by Mr. De Lias, will commence a short season of twelve nights at the Theatre Royal on Friday night. The season will open with Offenbach's " Madame l'Archiduc," aud among the operas which will also be played may be particularised
"Genevieve do Drabant" (which ran fora, year iu London), "La Grande Duchesse," and " Barbe Bleue," by the same author, and Herve's clebratcd •' Chilperic." We may mention that "Madame l'Archiduc" is the Jastest work of Offenbach, and wag played iu London for over one hundred nights. Miss Emily Soldene is an actress and songstress of no ordinary talent, and was in London a reigning favourite iu opera bouffe, so much so, that it has been said of her that she was "a perfect mistress of her vocation." She will, of course, enact the principal parts, and will be assisted by such vocalists as Miss iiose Stella, aud Miss Clara Yesey—stars in themselves—and well-known male voices, who are in the advertisement enumerated. The company is, probably, the best in its line that ever visited Aucklaud, and playgoers may consider thems-'ves very lucky in having an opportunity of seeing, as they will, opera bouffe played as it should be. With a complete company, all up to their parts, and whose success in England ana. other quarters of the world is a guarantee of their inerita, Mr. DeLias should have a Biilh'eiently-:mccessful season to recoup him fur the expense which such a combination of taleDt will entail.
