MR. CHERRY AND DR. WALLIS.
TO THE EDITOK. - 1 Sir, —You publish a letter in this morning's issue signed F. Cherry re Dr. Wallis and consistency, in which he publicly thanks Mr. Suiter for the manly way in which he responded to the call at the meeting held on Tuesday evening last.' Sir, I do not see there is anything either " manly" or deserving of " thanks " in a man who comes forth at a public meeting and asserts what is known te the great bulk of the ratepayers of the district to be without foundation; aojl had not Messrs. Cherry and Suiter wished to be wilfully blind, they could see that by the unmistakeable opposition their statement was received with by the meeting on Tuesday evening last. Dr. Wallis never advocated the retaining of the whole of the Counties Act at any meeting of the district, for I attended every one, and. I feel satisfied not another man could be found brazen enough to so assert.—l am, &c., A Ratepayer of the District. March 22, 1878.
