SALMON AMD TROUT PROTECTION.
The following draft of a warrant, baying for its object the- protection of salmon ; aad .trout, has been sent; to the chairmen of the various Acclimatisation Societies for" th... r consideration, before advising its issue by his Excellency tbe Governor :— 1. 2jfo person, excepting as hereafter providefl, shall liah for. salmon or salmon trout in any part of the colony, or use any net or other engine,. instrument, or device, ifor ; taking fish in any river or stream in, which young salmon or salmon trout, or salmon fry or spawn, or salmon trout "fry or spawn, are placed or deposited. 2. .No person, excepting as. heremafter provided, : shall have in his possession; any salmon or salmon trout 3. All neta or otner engines, instruments or devices whatever, usad contrary to the provisions of :these regulations, ; shall be seized,:forfeited, -destroyed, or removed, as the case may require. ! 4. The penalty for every offence, against the above regulations, shall be a.sum not exceeding £100.. Nothing in these regulations shall be held to be applicable to any Acclimatisation Society or their officers, "or agents, , or to any other body, or persona: in charge oE fish-breeding experiments; • : "'■ -
