VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
1 The first of the prescribed matches for seleoI tion of Carbine Representatives will be fired | by the Naval Brigade on Tuesday morning, I the 12th proximo, at 9 o'clock, instead of on I the 11th proximo, as was previously ordered. I Pursuant to announcement the members of t the Victoria Company assembled at the * rifle range on Saturday afternoon laat, and ; fired the second of the matches in the series r of three which is to determine the possessor of the prize-a Snider rifle. The ranges were 200, 400, 500, and COO yards ; five shots at each. A 4x4 tar- - get was used. -At 200 yards the bull s eye was the 8-inch one. The shooting was but indifferent, the highest score (52) being made by Volunteer A. Payne, who occupied a similar position in the first match. Payne is now 11 points ahead, Volunteer E. Cooper being second. The third and finishing contest takes place on Saturday, the 9th December. We will then publish the totals of each competitor in the three matches.
