MAIL SERVICE FOR MERCURY BAY.
To the Editor of the Herald. Sir,—l trust you will do me the favour of inserting the following complaint in reference to the want of punctuality of the mail servics at this place, inasmuch as the s s. Rowena does not deliver the mails once every week, according to agreement, and for which she receives a good subsidy; but in several cases, goods (some of which were perishable) have.been taken on to Tauranga, and when brought back were quite unsaleable, and this mismanagement haa occurred wheu a lighter for the discharge of goods was alongside. Now, sir, under these circumstances, I would suggest that it would be much more beneficial to the inhabitants of Mercury Bayjto have their mail sent overland from Coromandel twice a. week, the same as Tairua, and that it wonld be a saying to the Government of at least one-half the expense.—lam, &c., ' F. Carina. Mercury Bay, Sept. 19, 1876.
