THE FATAL ACCIDENT TO A GIRL. We have received the following particulars respecting the fatal accident to a young girl from falling off her horse, which we mentioned in yesterday's paper:— On Wednesday afternoon, the daughters of Mr. Crago, of East Tamaki, were proceeding on horseback from their father's house to the East Tamaki Church, to see the wedding of Miss Smale, when one of them, Miss Julia Crago, a girl of twelve years of age, was killed by falling from her horse. It seems that the deceased was riding in company with an elder sister, who for some time held the bridle of the horse. Thinking, however, there was no danger, she let go, and shortly after, whether from the horse stumbling is not clear, the younger sister fell from the saddle, and was dragged along the hard road for some considerable distance, the injuries being inflicted chiefly on the head. When released from the horse deceased was insensible. She was taken into a paddock near, by a carter who was working on the road, where, in a few minutes, she expired. Mr. Crago has not long come to the country. The accident has caused much sorrow over the district. Yesterday, an inquest was held on the body at the house of Mr. Crago, by Mr. W. R. Logan, J.P., and a jury of twelve. A verdict of "accidental death" was returned, accompanied by an expression of sympathy for . the bereaved parents.
