Farqubar, of tho s.s. lona, reports the S^r?oaltde;:wfnVbSund b arSe^ d jeven colliers, outwards in ballast, also lay at the Kawau lor shelter from the heavy weather. The schooner Kata McGregW, Captain Smith, arrived in harbour from Dunedin last evening, after an extraordinary passage of six days, including two days' stoppage at Oamaru. The schooner left JJnnedin on Tuesday, Urn 11th Instant, and Oamaru on the following Thursday night. She experienced fine favourable weather until off tlio ICldnappers, when the weather set in foul and continued so until her arrival in pert. The Kate McGregor brings a cargo of wheat consigned to D. H. McKenzlo. A telegram, received yesterday afternoon from Tauwhich left Auckland on Friday evening last had not arrived there. This is, however, not surprising when we learn from recent arrivals that a heavy S.E. gale has been raging for the past few days outride the port. The Kowena is without doubt sheltered in some convenient bay along the coast, and the only trouble consequent npon her detention is probably that experienced by her providore as to the period the fresh provisions will last. The galo might prove Captain W. Far q uhar arrived in port at 8 p.m. yesterday from the Bay of Islands, whither she had gone specially to fetch up a witness In the case, which was, however, decided in favour of Tier owners at the Supreme Court on Monday last. Bad weather prevented the lona from reaching Auckland sooner. Of the passage, Captmn Farquhar reports leaving Auckland at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and reached the Bay of Mauds at 0.45 o clock next mornIng, having experienced a strong SE. gale, thus weather and heavy sea throughout Left again for Anckland on Sunday, at C p m., but in consequence of the heavy weather ontside the b»y. was compelled to put back. At daylight next morning ventured to tea again, and reached <u far as Tutukaka, where ahelter was again songht from the strong S.E gale IUU blowing, with high sea. Sighted H.M.S. Sappho, under canvas, about two miles to the northward of Tututaka. Lelt there at 5 o'clock yesterday morning, and arrived as above, strong S.E. winds and thick weather being stiU encountered on the passage to Auckland. The lona is announced to leav« again rot« wual trip to the North this afternoon.
