Yesterday, being polling clay, much excitement prevailed in this district, and mai>y were the conjectures as to whom the successful candidate might, could, would, or should be. Of course no one doubled but that Mr. Hull would receive the bulk of the votes recorded at the Police Court, Hakaru. The result of the poll yesterday must lir.ve been immensely gratifying to the above gentleman and his supporters. There were 57 voters, in the possession of the same number of ballot-papers. At the close of the poll it was found that three out of this number were informal votes. The remainder were distributed as follows :—Mr. Hull, 37 ; Sir R. Douglas, 11; Mr. Bradley, 5; Mr. Munro, 1. —[Own Correspondent, Jan. 13.]
