CRICKET.
WEST EN\D V. CARLTON. The return match between these clubs was played on Saturday, and resulted in an easy victory for the West End. In the previous match the "West End beat by two runs. The bowling of T. Macky, on Saturday last, was really firstrate, while the batting o{ J. C. The teams arrived on the ground, at Parawai, and wickets were pitched at 11.20. Robinson, having won the toss, elected to go in, and sent in the Thames men, who played a fair game, but had no luck, the fielding oF the Taranaki men being capital. Shortly after the clubs drove into town, where they arrived at 7.30, and landed amid the congratulations of all the cricket players. At 8.30 the clubs, attended by their friends, assembled at the Pacific, where host Curias provided one of his usual gastrononrical entertainments, with Mr. Mayor Macdonald at the head of the table. The company (about 45) enjoyed themselves to their fjpdl content, and passed a most sociable evening till the time warned that the Jjteamer could wait no longer, and the Twanaki visitors were escorted down the wharf, and seen safe off from the scene of weir exploits.
