London, November 16 (?). The San Francisco mail has been delivered. The steamer Hibernia, with the deep-sea portion of the New Zealand cable, has sailed. Sailed: St. Osyth, s.s., for Melbourne and Sydney. November 23. The London colonial wool sales opened this evening. The stock consists of 9000 bales, and upwards ef 6000 bales were offered. Cape of Good Hope wools preponderated. The attendance of both home and foreign buy'ers was large, and bidding commenced with great spirit. Prices range about the same as at the close of last series. A discovery has been made at Chatham dockyard of an old vessel at the depth of 40 feet, which it is supposed was built in the reign of Charles 11. The Orphanage at Essendon ha 3 been destroyed by lire. Ihe English Press views the visit of the Prince oI Wales to India as a sign of the growing unity of the East and West. The Duke of Buckingham has left London for Madras. Dr. Kenealy delivered an address at Dunkirk. The audience was noisy, and the roughs ultimately compelled him to fly. The cost of the Philadelphia Exhibition is estimated at 8,500,000 dollars. A high wind destroyed the Agricultural Hall at Islington. Despatches have been received from Mr. Stanley, which give details of his voyage up the Nyanza River. An ancient city has been discovered on the steppes. The Carlists are fast losing ground. Several vessels have been lost during the late hurricane. Garibaldi has sent a letter of sympathy to the insurgents at Herzegovina.
