SALES BY AUCTION. New Zealand Herald Offioe, November 19. Messrs. Tonks and Co. held a property sale to-day, consisting of 40 acres of land, together with a dwelling house at the Whau, the property of J. H. flanson, which was purchased by the second mortgagee. The other property was withdrawn. Mr. Morton Jones, auctioneer, sold on the Queenstreet "Wharf, to-day, the sails of the brig Princess Alice and the barque Serene, which hare beea wrecked at Timaru. There were only few buyers present, and the prices fetched were small. The sails were brought up in the brig Wave. November 22. Messrs. 8. Cochrane and Son held a sale of toff a and country properties at their mart to-day. There was a capital attendance, and the bidding was brisk. Allotment 33, section 18. Hobsoa-street, 25 feet frontage, with a depth of 63 feet, was sold for £5 per foot; lot 2, of the subdivision of allotment 26, section 29. Karangahape Road, 33 feet 6 inches frontage, sold for £4 per foot. A comfortable cottage in. 3t. Mary's Road, with allotment, subdivision of part of allotment 13, section 8, suburbs of Auckland, lotos 12, 13, and 14, 09 feet frontage to St. Mary's Road, brought £230/ allotment 14, section 33, of the village of Onehunga, fronting the harbour, was sold for £20; allotments 14 and 15, section 32, village of Onehunga, 2 roods, brought £100; allotment 13, section 32, village of Onehunga, 1 rood, was sold for £5 ss; allotments 53 and 54, section 32, village of Onehunga, 951 links frontage, brought £75. November 23. The valuable property in Rollinson's estate, consisting of a valuable mill aud buildings at Mercer, on the Waikato river, with machinery, &c , was offered today by Mr. George Sibbin, of the Corner Mart, and realised the sum of £1100. November 24. Mr. Alfred Buckland held a Waikato land and property sale at the H»ymarket to-day, at which there was a good attendance. .Lot 1, containing 320 acres, mostly in grass, near rhaupo, realised £3 17s 6d per acre; lot 2, £5 per acre, consisting of 100 acres; lots 3 and 4 were reserved. The 36 allotments at the foot of Mount Smart varied in price from £10 to £12 each; the majority sold for £10. The property known, as Kiripaka Block, near the Wairoa river, was not sold. November 29. Messrs. B. Tonks and Co. held a land sale of th© property cf Stann us Jones, Esq., in Ponsonby Road, to-day. There was a very numerous attendance, aai the prices obtained were fair. There was * fair attendance, and the following lots were sold:— Wangarei.—Allotments 83, 93, 99, I*>o, 105, and south-eastern portion of S7, Parish of Owhiwa, County of Marsden, containing 236 acres. 20 acres beiug enclosed with post and rail fence, and 1| acres planted in wheat, J acre in potatoes, and remainder in good grass. The property has erected on it a comfortable four-roomed dwelling-house, stockyard, &c., is well watered by a splendid creek running through it, and is situated adjoining the farms of Messrs. Hay and »Scott, Parua Bay, inside Wangurei Heads, at lis 6«i per acre. Tuimala.—Lot S4, of the Tuimata Block, Parish of Opaheke, containing 49 acres, situated on the Pukekolie and Dairy iSoad, near the Great South Road, brought 9s per acre. The sale of freehold properties owned by General Nugent, held on Dec. 8 by Messrs Tonks and Co., w*B one of the best that has taken place in this city for a long tiina past. A large crowd had assembled when the auctioneer mounted the rostrum, and biddings commenced at once in a spirited manner, and continued without intermission unt 1 the last lot had passed under the hammer. The prices realised must be looked upon as most satisfactory, and certainly do not indicate a want of confidence in the stability and progress of the city. December 10. Messrs Isaacs held a sale of immigrants' stores ex Occan Mail, to-day, which was largely attended, and the bidding spirited, the nature of the goods being scarce. In addition to the ready sale of stores, 100 packages of different kinds of teas were sold at prices with which the shipper was dissatisfied. Thirty cases of champagne were sold at 37s 6d per case, December 13. Messrs Samuel Cochrane and Son offered to-day, by order of the City Council, the lease for CC years of five allotments in tlepburn-street. Lots 1 and 2 only were sold, and these realised a rental of £12 per annum each. For a term of eipht years lot A, with a Jrontage of 69 feet to Karangabape road, and a fourroomed cottage thereon, sold for £24 per annum. Lot 13, 37 feet frontage, and four-roomed cottage, £IS. Lot C, with 31 feet froutage, ?nd five-roomed cottage, £1S per annum. In the estate of U. fir. Jervis, allotment 12, containing 24 perches, in Newcastle, fetched £iS: and allotment 25. o7 perches, £20. 104 acres, Waiwera, being allotment No. 105, sold for 12s 6d per acre. Lot 12, of subdivision of allotment 2, Mongonui, 9s 6d per acre. The eight acres and villa residence, Parawai, was withdrawn. December 14. At Messrs B. Tonks and Co.'s trade sale, to-day, of Christmas fruits, groceries, &c., there was a full attendance. Fiji sugar realised from £20 53 to £22 per ton. in bond. Considerable lines of Christmas fruits were disposed of, and fetched average prices. December 15. Messrs B. Tonks and Co. offered at the Brunswick Mart to-day, to public competition, the leases of hospital and other endowments in the City of Auckland, with the following results:—No. 1 (21 years), the property at the corner of Bavelock and Wynyardstreets, £50 per annum; Ko. 2, for the same time, of valuable building allotments, with frontages of 55 feet to Queen and .Elliott-streets, £5 15s per foot per annum; No. 7, sub-divisional allotment, £2 per foot p«r annum; No. 10. Victoria and Elliott-streets, £2 perfoot; 13, 30sperfoot; and IN o. 14, SOs per foot per annum. A sale by auction took place to-day at Messra 8. Cochrane and Son's auction mart, Fort-street.
