Arthur held a sale of household furniture and effects to-day, at which good prices were obtained. LAND SALT?. The sale of freehold properties owned by General Nugent, held tto-day by Messrs Tenks and Co., was ono of the best that has taken place in this city for a long time past. A large crowd had assembled when tho auctioneer mounted tho rostrum, and biddings commenced at once in a spirited manner, and continued without intermission until the last lot had passed under the hammer. The prices realised must be looked upon as most satisfactory, and certainly do not indicate a want of confidence in the stability and progress of the city. WOOL SALES. The third wool sales of the season were held this afternoon, in the presence of a better attendance of buyers thsn was tho case at the previous sales. Thn bidding was spirited, and nearly all tho lots offered were knocked down at good prices. Mr Macfarlano was by far the most extensive buyer, und his presence tho auction far moro successful than it otlierwiso would have been. Mr Alfred Bucilase's ■Wool Sale.—4S7 bales were catalogued, the whole of which, with the exception of a few bales which were reserved at rather high prices, were disposed of at a fair competition. The quality was a little better than the wool offered at la«t tales, and the prices were about the same—any difference be'.ng in favour of the present. Loagwool, in grease, ranged from 7Jd to 9}d per lb, and washed, fiom Hid to 14Jd. Prices for half-bred, in grease, rul-3 from 7Jd to 9Jd per lb, and washed, from 12d to Ud. 11 bales of cross-bred, washed, fetched 15d per lb. Another sale, which promises to be of greater magnitude tban tlie present, will be held in a fortnight; 200 bales havo already been received. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Woot, Sale S7 , bales and 29 bags were offered, and succeeded in finding purchasers at fair prices. The bidding was pretty brisk, and the different lots met v.lth fair competition. Longwool, in grease, was disposed of, prices extending from 6d to 10d per lb. There was eomo little fluctuation in the money obtained for wasbed, the lowest price being 83d, and the highest 14d. It i 3 but right to state, however, that there were several bales classed among the washed wool, which should have been placed with the greasy. Half-bred, in greaso, brought from 6d to 9d to per lb. Thero were only two lota of washed half-bred offered, one of which was sold at Sfd per lb, and the other at 13Jd- Two lots of skins were also sold,—one lot at Si Cd each skin, and the other at Is 9d each.
