' " In consequence of the inclement state of the weather, shipping business was almost suspended during yesterday. The ship Ocean Mail is now 93 days out from Lon- ' don, and may be expected to make her number any ship Flechero hauled away from tbo wharf and anchored in th* stream yesterday. She will leave on the first change ef wind. The Vasco de Gama will not be the bearer of the outward English mail this month, there not being sufficient time to have the vessel thoroughly over- ' hauled at Sydney. The steamer Cyphrene3 Will take the mail, leaving here on Monday next. She may be expected to arrive on Sunday. Messrs. Cruickshank and Co. have chartered the schooner Mary Melville to proceed to Tonga and Samoa, instead of the barque Martha. The Mary Melville is receiving cargo, and will leave about v Saturday next. The Martha will take a cargo of Umber to Lyttelton. Mr. J. W. Carr. the well-known boatbuilder of Brickfield Bay, launched a fine centre-board skifT from his yard yesterday morning. She has built for Messrs. Bettis and Son, of Shortland, and was towed down by the p.s. Enterprise No. 2 last night. She is intended for fishing, for which purpose she has boxes on each side to keep the fish in. The following are her dimensions: —Length, 20 feet 6 inches; beam, - 6 feet 6 inches; 2 feet 4 inches deep. She is fitted to ' carry 80 passengers, and is a fine strong boat.
