PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE.
This theatre, which, was closed on Monday night owing to the illness o£ Miss Clara Stephenson, was opened again last night with " Aurora Floyd" and the burlesque of "La Sonnambula." In the first piece the leading role was taken by Miss Stephenson, | who well sustained the difficult part of the heroine, and shewed considerable dramatic power of the subduedly intense school. Mr. Collier, as "the Lofty," was a success. He played the part with great care and ease, never allowing it to become burlesque, and his concluding passionate burst of halfwitted rage was really most excellent. He was loudly and persistently called for, but, for some reason, declined to respond. Mrs. Searle was quietly venemous as the intriguing companion, and the remaining characters were fairly taken. In the burlesque, Miss Stephenson's indisposition was manifest, it being obvious that she moved with extreme pain, but she played with as much verve as ever. Miss Lizzie Morgan, as usual, sang and acted charmingly, though we think we have seen the same dress figure in two or three other burlesques. Mr. Sam Poole was, as he always is in the same part, very, funny, and Mr. Collier made the most of a small part. Miss Rogers and Miss Busche well supported minor places. To-night "Lady i Audley's Secret" will be produced, with the ! same afterpiece. Great preparations are j being made for "Ali Baba, or the Forty- ' nine Thieves," which is intended to be a I success.
