HARBOUR BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon, in the office of the Board, Fort-street. "Present: W.. C. Dald/, Esq. (chairman), and Messrs. Maj r , Eaton, Tole, Buchans'n, Holdship, •• and McKenzie. Minutes. —The nrnutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CoRRESPONDjiI.CE.—Copies of the letters written siice last meeting was read: to the Board.—A letter was read from Messrs. Whitaker and Russell, in reply to one from the Board. .The. correspondence shewed that the firm of Whitaker and Russell were not solicitors to the Board, but simply acted for the Board when retained for that purpose.—A letter from the Chairman"of the Highway Board was read. It stated that notice had been given to all parties concerned to remove the obstructions now existing on the foreshore. The District Board further promised to , refuse permission, for the erection of sheds on the land referred to. Finance. —The following amounts were ordered to be paid : —General account, £236 13s 9d. Statement of . Funds.—To balance in Bank, £2744 11s 7d ; cash in hand, £11 14s 10d : total, £2756 6s sd. By accounts ordered to •be • paid, £233 13s 9d ; less already paid, £66 Ips : £170 3s 9d. Balance, £2556 2s Bd. ■ Moneys voted, £3020 ; interest due January 10, 1876, £3228 : total, £6240: Cash at interest oa fixed deposit in Bank of New Zealand, £1500. Loan account : Balance in Bank, £5507 Is 4d j cash on fixed deposit, £67,500 ; cash on mortgage, £20,800 : total, £88,300'. Endowment Committee.—The minutes of the Endowment Committee were read, amended, and adopted. The business treated of in the minutes wa3 the leasing of a number of allotments, and the particulars will therefore be advertised. Works and Wharf Commtstkes. —The minutes of the Works Cemmittee and of the Wharf Committee were read and confirmed. They referred simply to matters of detail, and contained nothing of public importance. This concluded the business.
