At a meeting of the Bullion shareholders, held at Hastings this day, it was resolved to form it into a company of 7000 shares of £1 each, «i 7 paid up. Messrs. \V. C. Daldy, jun., Maekay, Robinson, Coguoft, and l'illan were appointed directors, and Mr. h. I). G. Macdonuell legal manager. A working manager is to be appointed, and work resumed immediately. Buckland's people will have their air pipes finished to-morrow, and resume driving next day. Cokomandel, Tuesday. The Tokatea crushing from 240 lbs. picked stone and specimens yielded 122 ozs. retorted gold—a much better return thai anticipated from the character of the stone.
About 20 lbs. picked stone has been taken out from the Siege level to-day. The Koyal Oak crushing of 20 tons at Bennett's battery is shewing up for a good return. The Union Beach got 40 lbs. of good stone again last night, which, with 100 lbs. on hand, was crushed to-day. The Whakaroa probable yield will not be less than 220 ozs. ; I will wire the exact return. The manager is squaring up for timbering the winze, preparatory to further sinking, which will occupy the next two days. No more leader will bo broken dowu till Friday. Telegram received here notifying that the Gazette declares Highway District for Coromandcl. Elements of discontent brewing. The coming meeting promises to be lively. The Kapanga School Committee met to elect a schoolmaster to-day. Consideration adjourned. [press agexcv.] CiißisTCHtntcii, Tuesday. In the Supreme Court, to-day, in the of Bain v. \\ alker, £500 damages for slander, verdict for defendant. Christchurch Metropolitan races fixed for November Sth, 10th, and 12th. Dunedin, Tuesday. The Otago Times' letter-box at the Post Office was opened by a duplicate key on Saturday night and letters containing money abstracted from it. A number of envelopes and pieces of a cheque were found in the gutter yesterday. Some of the cheques have been recovered. The police have obtained a good clue. The offender is supposed to be a person lately discharged, and at the same time one of the keys of the letter box was missed. Sir George Grey has given the Acclimatisation Society hero twenty brace of quails. They are oxpected by the Wellington tomorrow.
