SALES BY AUCTION. New Zealand Hep.ald Office, June 10. The sale of damaged goods ex Shooting Star, by Messrs. Tonks and Co , was well attended to-day. The longcloths, American drills, sheeting, and prints fetched fair prices. . Jlessr.<. Cochrane and Son offered for sale, to-diy, a number of allotments subject to leases, situated at the Thames, by order of the mortgagee. The bidding was exceedingly low, and all the lots were passed except lots 101 and 102, which were sold to Mr. \\ ilkmson for £90 and £21. ' June 12. The cargo of the btu Derwcnt was sold at auction by Mr. G. W. Binney this morning The whole cargo, consisting of 330 tons Wallsend coals, was bought by Mr. W. Kirby at 87s per ton. June I*. The brig Derwent was offere-l at auction this morning. by Mr. G. W. Binney. There was little bidding, and tfie vessel was ultimately withdrawn at £875. Messrs. E. and H. Isaacs' report on this morning s sale of brushware, mats, ic., was far from satisfactory. Each lot quitted w*s considerably under cost and charges. This is chiefly attributable to the market being inundated with this clas3 cf goods. Mr. K. Arthur's sale of Japanese goods was well attended, and every line sold at good prices. June 21. Messrs. Cochrane and Son offered for saleto-d«y. by order of the Domain Board, the pasturage of that portion situated outside the plantation. The sum realised per annum was £150. Ihe purchaser was Mr. Cook. The six allotments in Grafton Road, opposite the Bowling Green, were withdrawn. June 22. Messrs B. Tonks and Co. held a large trade sale of groceries, oilmen's stores, Arc.*, to-day. Arthur sold this day, at his mart, 9 crates of earthenware, ex Caller Ou, from London: Toilet sets(assorted 1 , 9s, 10s, to 10s 6d per set; white chambers, 6s to 12s per dozen; ewers and basins, 4s 6dto4s9d; per pair; bowls (assorted), 2s lOd per dozen; cups and saucers, 5s 3d per dozen; silver lustre teapots, 2s 1 each * *r , o July 2. Messrs. Grant and Morton report that the firm at Maungatautari, Waikato, was sold by order of the mortgagee to-day. There was a large attendance and keen competition. The property was started at £1000, and knocked down to Mr. A. W. Gubbins, represented by Mr. Kisaling, for £2500. July 3. Mr. R. Arthur sold to-day by auction a large consignment of fruit ex Hero and Syren. The following prices were realised:—Oranges, 5s to 7s 6d per case; mandarins, 6s 6d to 8s; lemon*, 6s 6d to Ss; apples, ljd to 3jd per lb.; French crabs, 2sd to 2jd; stone pippins, 23d to 3fd; russets, lsd to 3d. July 5. Messrs. Samuel Cochrane and Son held a property sale to-day. The house m Dublin-street, Newton, was not sold. Allotment in Gisborne, 1 rood, realised £22; 40 acre?, part of Allotment 193, parish of Takapuna, £10; 10y acres, Matakohe, Is per acre; 44 acres, Omaha, 2s per acre; 5 acres 4 perches, Waikomiti, 27s per acre. Messrs. IS. Tonks and Co. sold to-diy the whole of the building* on the oil Supreme Court site, for removal. They realised from £4 10s to £21 each. July 6. The schooner Fortune was offered at auction today by Mr. G. W. Binney, but was withdrawn at £220. At Mr. G. W. Binney'a auction sale to-day oats realised 3d 6d; bran, Is; bacon, SJ«i; cheese, lOjd.
