POLICE COURT.—Wednesday.

[Before Thomas Beckham, Esq., 11. M.] Drunkenness.—Six persons were punished for the above offence. Vagrant Act.—Edward Gore, for keeping a disorderly house, the resort of thieves and prostitutes, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour. Juvenile Burglaks.—Stephen Home and Antony Nicholson (two eliildren nine years of age), were brought up on remand charged with breaking into and entering the store of H. B. Morton. His Worship said that he was under the impression that the sum of £500 had been voted for the establishment of a Criminal Reformatory. J fad such an institution been in existence, there would have been 110 difficulty in dealing with the prisoners. Mr. I'.ioham suggested that the boys should be committed to the Industrial Home for one year, and then transferred to the Training Ship. He believed several of the inmates of the 1 Tonic were to be sent to the Training Ship when they had attained the age of ten years. His Worship agreed •with the suggestion, and committed the children to the Home for one year, to be brought up in the Roman Catholic faith.
