I'bf Hood covered the town agais yester- • Mr. CM ear' ? house was washed away, i'lie family and fiiniiture were removed by i.'jighbours. The flood still rising. In the Hutfc district the highest flood for many years lias occurred. The damage is unimportant yet. Kain continues, and traffic is suspended. Mastertou flooded by the Waipoua. Miles of fencing have been destroyed near Masterton, and there has been a great loss of cattle and sheep throughout the district. Several small bridges beyond gone. All the culverts aud bridges near Grey town arc more or less iamased. CHRISTOIIURCI!, Tuesday. Very heavy rains have occurred lately. Kain fell almost incessantly on Sunday morning and Monday night. Several rivers have overflowed their banks, but there is no serious damage yet. It is still showery. It is still raining. Most of the unbridged rivers are impassable. The Waimakariri lias overflowed :its banks and flooded part of the town of Kaiapiii, damaging the northern railway line in two places, causing a temporary suspension of traffic. Ino sign cf the weather clearing up yet. T! MARTI, Tuesday. There has been heavy weather during the last few days. The rivers north and south are heavily Hooded. 'The northern approach to the Opihi bridge has been washed away, also the embankment in the Tengav.-ai river.
