Lakceny.-—Mary Aim Hunter, a child aboutjten years of age, was charged with having stolen 11 dozen of medicine bottles, valued at 225, the property of Kemptliorne, Prosser and Co., between the 25th and 31st August. Mr. Broham stated that he desirr l the discharge of the prisoner. The child's parents were in very respectable circumstances, and felt very accutely the position they had been placed in by her conduct. Her father was a hard-working, industrious man. The bottles which had been stolen were lying in a yard, which was somewhat open, and the child had pilfered them from time to time, and having sold them to Mr. King his suspicion was aroused. The child was well carecl for by her parents, she attended school, and Messrs. Kemptliorne and Prosser were anxious for the charge to be withdrawn, as they did not think the child would be improved by being sent to Mount Eden. The Bench allowed the charge to be withdrawn. Assault.—Sam Antonia was charged on remand with having assaulted S.-.rah Aime Powell, by striking her on the head with a billhook on the 29th of August.
