ST. MARY'S CHURCH ORGAN FUND.

Ax '' At Home - ' was held last evening in the Parnell Hall, the jjroeeeds of which were to be devoted to the above fund. There wa3 a large and, fashionable audience assembled. The concert opened with a pianoforte duet, overture to " Der Freisohutz," which was exceedingly well played, and was much applauded. This was followed by a glee, "Hush, thee;" "The Hymn of the Moravian Nuns a pianoforte fantasia, the wellknown air, " The British Grenadiers," being the theme. There was also a pianoforte solo upon the airs from "Oberon." There was a considerable variety of part songs. The ladies of Parnell can provide some excellent voices. There was one contralto which is worthy of special mention as being of great depth and power. The songs were interspersed with readings. The well-known "Charity Dinner" was well read, and would have been more successful but for the recollections of a professional effort of the highest talent upon the same subject. A scene from "The Rivals" was also well read. Readings are for the most part too long, and this would have admitted of judicious curtailment. The concert, or "At Home," whichever it may be most, appropriately called, was a great success. The weather was unfortunately very unfavourable, and the occasion manifested the great want of light in this district. It would be a positive advantage to the district, and we are sure it would increase the value of property, if the main thoroughfare were lighted at least during such weather as that of last night.
