POLICE COURT.—Monday.

[Before Dr Homo aud Colonel Balneavis, Justices.] Drunkenness.—Seven persons pleaded guilty to this offence, and were punished in the usual manner; and two for having been drunk and disorderly. Larceny.—James Ivelly pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a candlestick, value 7s Gd, the property of J. S. Cousins, and' was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour.—lsaac Taylor was charged with stealing on iron lire-bar, value us, the property of Charles Jones. The oflenee was proved, aud the prisoner sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment. Assault.—Sam Antonia was charged with assaulting Ann Powell, by striking her on the head with a billhook, 011 the 29th inst. The complainant failed to appear, aud the oo.se was remanded until Tuesday in order to secure her attendance.

Vagrancy.—Mary Robinson, for being an habitual drunkard, having been five times

convicted of drunkenness within the preceding twelve months, was sentenced to two mouths' imprisonment with hard labour.— James Hollaway, for a In-each of the above Act, by indccent exposure, was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment with hard lr.bour.

Municipal Police Act.—Joseph Hamilton, for driving a waggon on the right or off side of Synionus-strcet, on the 20th August, was fined 10s and costs.

IxsuLTi>'ft. Language.—A charge of insulting language against Bridget Hawkins was withdrawn with the consent of the Bench.—Kobert Andrews was charged with assaulting his wife, Catherine Andrews, on the 29th of August, by striking her 011 the face and hitting her on the bead with his boot. The prisoner pleaded not guilty. As the prosecutrix did not wisli to proceed with the case, it was dismissed by the Bench.
