THE COLOKISTS' PBOTECTIOS LEAGUE. A iieetino of the Colonists' Protection Lenguo was held at 12 o'clook to-day (Tuesday), at the Criterion Hotel, Otahuhu, to take into consideration the subjoined letter from the City Council of Auckland : —" City Council of Auckland, May 23, 1373.—T0 Albin Martin, Esq.. Chairman Colonists' Protection League.—Sir, —It was suggested at last meeting of the City Council that a show of settlers' produce—butter, cheese, hams, bacon, eggs, poultry, butchers' meat, vegetables, and colonial industries generally —might take^ place in the new market-house on the opening day, 10th June ; and I am instructed to communicate with tho Protection League with a view to their co-operating with the Council in carrying out tho project. Will you kindly inform me if your society will consent to this proposal, and will appoint a committee to confer and act with the Market Committee in this matter as soon as possible.—l have, &0., i P. Bhodie, Town Clerk."—Albin Martin, Esq., was in the chair. The letter fully explained the object of tho meeting, when the following resolutions were duly proposed and agreed to :—Resolved, " That the League acknowledges the polite communication from the City Council, and agreo to their suggestion of opening the market-house by a colonial produce show, and will co-operate with the Market Committee of tho Council." Resolved, "That the following gentlemen be the committee of conference with the City Council: Albin Martin, Esq., chairman ; H. Chamberlain, Esq., M.P.C. ; Capt. Walmsley ; Messrs. E. Maclean, W, Woodward, H. S. Andrews, John Scott, R. Bent, E. Woolfiold, and S. Kempthorne, secretary." Resolved, " That this committee be instructed to co-operate with other kindred societies in carrying out the views enumerated by the City Council in reference to opening the first market-house erected in the city of Auckland for the disposal of farm produce."
