OTAHUHU R.M. COURT.—Tuesday.
Mat 13. [Before E. C. Barstow, R.M., W. R. Logan, James Robertson, and F. Styak, Esqß., J.P.'s.] JonN Bay was charged with being drunk aud disorderly, on the 11th of May. He pleaded guilty, and was fined ss. — Michael Casey, also charged with being drunk and incapable at Otaliuhu, oil the 13th of April last (Easter Sunday) ; pleaded not guilty. After hearing uvideuce, the Court ordered him to pay lUs., aud 9s. costs. —Janres Smith, charged with a breach of the Auckland Municipal Police Act, 1866, by furiously driving through the public street of Otahuliu, on the sth of May, 1573. pleaded guilty. Dismissed with a caution. —Francis Winter, charged with wilfully obstructing the road a'. Ellerslie (Rural Police Act, 1566), on the sth of May, 1573. Mr. Rees appeared for defendant. Dismissed.—William Grillard was charged with a breach of the Protection of Animals Act, ISC-7, by trespassing on the lauds of Mr. John Wallace, of Flat JJush, in pursuit of game, on the 6;h of May, 1873. The prosecution was conducted by Constable Gamble. Mr. Rees appeared far the defendant. After hearing the cvidenco of several witnesses, the Bench was of opinion the charge was clearly proved. The same defendant was further charged -with a similar offence on the 7th of May, on the same lands. After several witnesses were (:xaniiued, he was found guilty on both charges. For the first offence, fined £2 atiu £3 ss. 6d. costs ; for the sceond, £5 aud £1 10s. costs; or, in default three months' imprisonment. Fines paid.—William Woodward, of East Xaui'iki, charged Robert Scott, cf the same place, with assault. Robert Scott charged W. Woodward with threatening language. Mr. Rees appeared for Scott. It was agreed by both sides that both cases should be heard before giving a decision. After a portion of the evidence has heard, the Bench advised both parties to shake hands aud scLLlu it, which they did. Civil Cases. —Thomas aud Henry Stringer, of Otahuliu, were summoned for £1 each, by Mr. So ell (the local collector), under the Education Act. Defended by Mr. Rees. The Collector not being able to show his appointment from the Superintendent, the cases were struck off the list, without costs.
