POLICE COURT.— Wednesday.
[Before P. A. Philips, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness. —Two persons for this offence were fined five shillings and costs or twentyfour hours' imprisonment, with hard labour. Laecksy.—William Slnels (against whom there were thirty-three previous convictions) pleaded guilty to stealing a pair of boote, the property of Elizabeth Craig, and was sent to Mount Eden Gaol for two months. Abscondino Apprentice.—W. E. Dalten was charged with absconding from his apprenticeship to William Morgan.—The prosecutor did not wish to press the charge, and it was accordingly dismissed. MiLICIOtTS INJPRT TO PbOPEHXT ACT. Martha liiudsuy was charged with, breaking sundrv articles,"valued at £2 5s BJ. the property "of Richard Seearle.—Mr. Hesketh for the prosecution.— The prosecutor, his -wife, and a lodzer deposed to the defendant breaking the articles, by throwing stones through the windows. —The defendant stated that the wife of the prosecutor had aggravated her bj calling her name?. —Hia Worship inflicted u fine of £1 and costs, and to pay the amount of the damage, or, in default, to suffer fourteen days' imprisonment.
