Tallow, £35, casks included. AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET. Alfbed Bbckiaxd's Report.—On Saturday last fodder was in better request than for some weeks, prices were liiglier from 6d to Is the cwt.. Best hay brought 4s 9d to ss; inferior hay, from 2s 3d the cwt. Horse stock were of medium quality only, and dull of sale. Three-year-old unbroken draught colts brought from £12 to £20; riding stock, from £4, 10s to £7 5s each. At Kemuera, on Thursday, good dairy cows, at calvinjj, were in fair enquiry ; they brought from £9 to £11 15s each; medium animals, from £4, 10s each ; dry cows were dull of sale, even at low values, from £2 5s to £5 each ; calves were in moderate supply; they brought from 25s to 35s each ; 12 months old, from 45s to 62s Gd ,-13 months to 2 year olds, £4 10s to £4 15s ; two year olds and upwards, £5 10s to £6 7s 6d. Fab cattle were in lull supply, 103 head sold j prices rallied from last week. Best animals brought from 26s to 28s ; medium, 22s to 25s the 100 lbs. The sheep market was very fully supplied at opening of the sale ; 3d tho lb. waa freely given, but prices fell as the sale proceeded to less than 2id, when the balance were withdrawn. Pigs were plentiful, and maintained their previous values, averaging about 2Jd the lb. ° Hunter and Noxan's Repoht.—Tho horse market has not been characterised bv any relnarkable activity. The class offered being generally of inferior description. Sales were limited, but late ratea fully sustained. Cattlo in fair supply and moderate demand with, little alteration in value. Fat beaats being a shade lower than last week's quotations. At the sale of Messrs. Abraham's and Smith's stock at Papakura, there was a large attendance of buyers, and prices in advance of those ruling at the Junction were obtained. We quote : Dairy cows at calving, from £9 12s. 6d. to £11 12s. 6d.; 2-year-old steers, from £4, 2s. 6d. to £4 12s. 6d.; calv&s, from £113s. to £2; beef, from 225. to 2(35. per 100 lbs. Sheep were penned in moderate numbers and met with good domand, and prices fully confirmed the rise that we have reported during the last fortnight; best quality, from 17s. to 19s. 9d. ; second quality, from lls. 3d. to 135.; lambs, from Bs. to lls.; store lambs, from 4s. 6d. to 6s. 6d. each. Pigs were in short supply, and prices receded a little. |
