The calendar is remarkable for the large number of cases, including four murders, and several other grave charges. Beathe, the police sergeant at Leithfield has been committed for trial for embezzlement.

March 7.—George Gustave Schmidt, for robbery, has been sentenced to two years; Frederick Stanley, for obtaining money under false pretences, to twelve months' imprisonment ; and Mark Turner, for brutality, to five years' penal servitude.
