SERIOUS ACCIDENT IN OFFICIAL BAY.
A. Very serious accident occurred about four o'clock yesterday afternoon, by which a workI man who was employed m lengthening the hoat-house of the Auckland (towing Club, got his leg broken above the knee. Ilia boat-house is sit m ted in Otlieial 13.1y, and has lately bi-en made over to the club; but beinjr hardly targe enough for tiie aceommxlatio'i of all the boats, it was resolved to lengthen it at the shore end. In order to do this it was necessary to cut away a portion of the clitT, and in doing so, a nia-s of e*rth ;ell upon the workman, crushing hiut under it, and breaking hii leg near the hip joint. Ihe earth was at once tavern from off him, and medical assistance ?ent. for. Dr. Ta-sell very soon came to the sufferer's aid, and succeeded in setting the leg, *fter which he advised the man's re* movul to the ho-pttal. This was done as soou as practicable, and on making enquiry in the evening, we learned thai lie was doing as well as coiiid b* expected u ider the circumstances.
