The annual locil meeting of this company was heldyesterday, at noon, at the company's office, Queen -strcetj Mr. G. B. Owen in tho cliaii. The advertisement calling tho meeting haviug been read, and the minutes of the last annual meeting real and confirmed, the fifth annual report and balance • sheet of the company issued in Loudon 011 the 2 ,| t)i January last was, with tho consent of the shareholders present, taken as read.

Tho Chairman stated that he had great pleasure in reporting to tho meeting that tho compauy'a buaiuess was continuing to make rapid progress and notwithstanding the generally prevailing depression in this colony and great depreciation of property in somo districts 110 losses, had yet accrued, and tho directors were happy to state that tiioy apprehended none, tho wholo of their investments being considered perfectly safe, lie (tho chairman) was also glad to bo in a position to repeat tho intimation givenjat last meeting, that tho company's commission business 011 consignments of produce was increasing considerably, tho linmo of this company standing third 011 tho London list of wool importers last season—a result which was aliko gratifying, and in some measure a guarantee of the future success of the company; this class of business being moreover capable of indefinite expansion, as tho colony progresses and its natural products be 01110 developed. Tho Chairman also explained that the business now before the meeting w.13 tho election of two qualified proprietors in room of Messrs. C. J. Taylor and J. McKelvie, the retiring directors who, being eligible, offered themselves for re-election. Tho meeting would also have to elcc' an auditor in room of Mr. Browning, who was also astaiu eligible. The Rev. Wni. Cojirie proposed, and Mr. A. K. Taylor seconded, " That tho retiring directors and uuditer, Messrs. Mackelvie, C. J. Taylor, nud Browning, bo re elected," which was carried unanimously.
