Death ok Mi. H. P. St\kk.—We resrel, to have to record the death of Mr. H. I*. Stark, wliieh occurred at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, at the Imperial Hotel, Pollen-street. He had for some weeks past been suffering from nn attack of gastric fever. Peeeased was a resident in the province for about fourteen years, and for a lont; time carried on business in Auckland as stock and sharebroker, land agent, and auctioneer.
The building and machinery of the Ma Saw-mills were sold yesterday, in the bankrupt estate of P. V. Hunter, for £185. Mr. Gibbons, timber merchant, vras the purchaser. The third number of the Christian Times has been laid upon our table. On a former occasion we have referred to this periodical, and we are glad to sec llint it find-; ;ud merits support. The objects of this r.-jgazine are excellent, and on that account we must wish it a large circulation. One of the best things in the present number is a paper by the Kev. K,. TV\ Dale, on theatrical amusements-. If we were all possessed of Mr. Dale's charitable spirit, we should live in a happier world.
