PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE.

Tuts p'a.-e of amusement was not. so well .'it- ] tended yesterday evening as on the preceding 011 c, doubtles') owing to ilrj .state of the weather. The porfunn'.uiccs consisted of "The U'ond.r ; or, it Woman Keeps. a ferretanil *■ The Serious Family." Two st vling comedies presented on 1,110 oe:-;;~ion, with an excellent ensle, atlraet-'d a better house than the miserable weather prevailing liud led us to expect. The rom|.,'.:,y, we are bound to admit, is taken as a whole, the t liat »-c have for a long while seen in Auckland, although there are one or two performers connected with it who, notwithstanding that they hav; been long known on the Auckland stage, have not succeeded in making a particularly favorable impression. Mr. O'Urien sluuld remember how little lc.iven lcavenetu t!ie whole matter. The principal characters were last night in the hands ol our leading theatricals, and both pieces were presented in a most thorough and efficient manner. The first was no doubt the pi<c; dc resistance, but the last gave opportunity for riot and revel, which was not lost, [ and the "Serious Family Mrs. Darrell, Mi'- Davrell, and Mr. Ktuart O'Brien, playing the principal parts—was to our mind the gem of the evening. We trust that we may tie allowed to state that Mrs. Darrell comes back to us wonderfully altered for the better, her style throughout being equal to, and forcibly reminding us of, her palmy days at the Theatre Koyal, Melbourne.
