PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE.

[ " Fori, Pi/Ay " was re-produced at this house last night, to :i tolerably numerous audience ; I the performance was an improvement upon that of tho 1 -.'eeeding evening. Like all damatised novels, the play falls far short of | the original, in this case, especially so ; and there appears at times a want of connection, and an amount of drag about the piece which is anything but satisfactory. The plot is good and sensational enough, and tho manner iu which it has been put upon Mr. Hall's stago is highly commendable ; the pieces has been well cast, and the various members of the company played carefully and well. Mrs. Hall's part of Helen Rolleston has but little in it, and gives but small opportunity to that lady of displaying her power. Mr. Hall's Detective was good ; but what nation gave birth to M. Vidocq it would be hard to tell I probably, his home may have been adjacent to tho Katskill, his language assimilates so closely to that of Mr. Sip Van Winkle. Messrs. Clifford and Thornton did full justice to their respective characters ; and Mr. and Mrs. Laclilan McGowan, as the low comedy mate and his intended, played in their well known and excellent style. The scenery was good and effective, and the orchestra performed some excellent and choice selections. The farce of_ " Sarah's Young Man " concluded the evening's amusements.
