VOLUNTEERS FOR THE FRONT.
Several Volunteers accompanied by their officers, gallantly ollbred their services yesterday to till! Hon. the Native Minister as volunteers for the front, and arrangements were at once entered into with Captains Bavnett, McCarroll, and Fmnerty to enlist the services of as many men as were willing to proceed to Timraiiga without delay. These gentlemen wero at once informed that all the Thames Volunteers woidd be paid the capitation allowance, and a loan of ;C250 to wipe off the debt on the Volunteer Hall would be solicited from the Government on their behalf, which (here was very little doubt would bo forthcoming Later in the day a notice was posted calling for Volunteer Militia to accompany as many of the men of the Hauraki Rifle Volunteers as would proceed at once to Tauranga, in command o£ the above-named officers, and the appeal was liberally responded to, nearly fifty men offering their services during the afternoon. Captain McCarroll, Lieutenant Casely, Sergeants Fitzgerald and Ambrose, ind twenty-one rank and file of No. 1 Company H. R. V., together ■with forty Volunteer Militiamen, are ordered to parade before six o'clock this (Saturday) morning, when they will receive ammunition and a blanket each, and leave for Auckland per p.s. Koyal Alfred. They will be conveyed from theneo to Tauranga in the Colonial Government steamer Sturt. The men are enlisted for any period, and for active service, to proceed wherever ordered by the Government. — Thames Advert her.
